Qualification | Level 3 certificate | Units | 1 | Aimed at | Employees interested in becoming an NVQ assessor | What will your employees achieve? The A1 Assessor Award recognises competence in assessing NVQ candidates. It is a Level 3 award (equivalent to A-level or a BTEC Diploma). Like an NVQ it is a practical qualification, which assesses and recognises the skills, knowledge and understanding your employees have in a work situation. It offers your employees the opportunity to demonstrate they have the skills to carry out their role to national standards. Having a recognised qualification will help them in their work, and open doors to future career development. Who is it aimed at? The A1 Assessor Award is aimed at employees who wish to become an NVQ assessor. There are no entry requirements or age restrictions for this certificate. However your employees will need a reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy, and will need to be competent in the area of work they wish to assess. How long will it take? One unit must be completed. This can be done over a period of time, which is negotiable with our trainers and assessors. There are no written exams – our assessors will look at the evidence your employees provide to see whether they meet the requirements. Evidence could include an observation of your employee assessing an NVQ candidate, details from planning sessions or emails sent to candidates. What does the course cover? One mandatory unit must be completed – Unit 1: Assess candidates using a range of methods. The unit is broken down into the following elements: - Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
- Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
- Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
- Contribute to internal quality assurance process
